Description

MPE® Surface Mounted Berms are ideal containment for fuel bladders, fracking operations, tank farms, ponding operations, fuel tank containment and drum containment.

MPE® Surface Mounted Berm Containment System: Introduced in the spring of 2011, the new MPE® surface mounted berm containment system is a heavy duty, re-useable, re-configurable berm wall system designed to work with a liner to provide secondary containment for fracking tanks, AST’s, large transformers, heavy equipment, large fuel tank containment, surface mounted ponding operations, fracking tank containment, or fuel bladder containment. Due to the modular design, with interlocking wall segments, the MPE can be configured for small applications, i.e. a single fracking tank or fuel bladder, to the largest applications, i.e. large fuel storage containment with multiple fracking tanks, tank farms or fuel bladders.

The lightweight roto-molded, polyethylene wall struts feature a unique design:

a) to interlock securely together with minimum effort and maximum joint strength.
b) a free-standing, balanced, solid unit that it is perfect for long term or temporary use in any environment.
c) a unique structural design to absorb catastrophic bladder failures deflecting the wave back on itself, and walls that will support heavy hoses and traffic over the top of walls.
d) no more messy sand bags to secure the liner over the wall; these walls feature a locking grove, and large fiberglass clips that firmly hold the liner in place against high winds and excessive traffic.

A completed system consists of 4’W Side Wall Struts and 90-degree Corner Wall Struts. The walls are interlocked using steel rods inserted into large interlocking molded knuckles in the wall. The assembled system performs exceptionally well with a liner, but in fuel bladder containment conditions where a catastrophic bladder failure could occur or in some extreme ponding applications the system provides for spider cables to be secured under the liner linking opposite walls at every joint with one-another to provided extra strength. This system is ideal for large small and large fuel storage containment, large fuel tank containment, fuel bladder containment and containment of fracking tanks.

Best of all, the new BDS-MPE does not require a custom liner. We can provide a liner with the system, or the end user can use their own. Most DoD Fuel Bladders come with a liner; all can be used with the BDS-MPE. Now, throw away the sand bags, the new MPE offers heavy duty “Liner Locks” which secure the liner firmly in place over the top of the wall. Easy to install, the “Liner Lock” snaps over the wall and liner securing it in a molded groove along the top of the wall; no pins, screws, etc. required. Snap it on / snap it off.

Walls come in four heights: 4’, 3’, 2’, and 1’. Originally the MPE only came in 3’ heights, but as we have seen the popularity of the MPE Containment System rise and our customers find more and more uses for the system. We have found the 2’ MPE Wall, and 1’ MPE Wall to be a lot less of a barrier/obstacle on sites with a lot of foot traffic. The 4’ MPE Wall is created by sliding a 1’ MPE extender onto the base of the 3’ MPE Wall. The 4’ MPE Wall can be used in instances where space is limited and a bigger spill capacity is required. Also, for containment of fuel bladders if a bigger wall than our 3′ MPE Wall is desired.

Personnel Safety: The BDS-MPE uses a solid molded wall. Heavy hoses can sit anywhere along the wall, but most important the operators can move easily over the 3’H MPE Walls and the 4’H MPE Walls. In a catastrophic failure situation, operators need to access the nearest exit point, and it better provide solid support for a quick safe exit!

Liner Installation: With the BDS-MPE, the liner is simply draped over the wall and then secured with a Liner Lock to the top of the wall. This 14’ wide, fiberglass clip, snaps into grooves along the top of the wall. No need for sand bags here!

Weather: Wind is often a factor in the field, and liners make very good sails. How the system resists wind is critical to its ongoing performance. The BDS-MPE limits the exposure to wind via solid walls, and heavy duty Liner Locks that secure the liner all along the top of the wall. In case of extreme winds, you can fill the Molded Wall Struts with water for a heavy to ensure containment.
